Technology

  • The invention aims to increase the signal-to-noise ratio of self-referencing quantitative phase microscopes, thus enabling the detection and characterization of moving nanoobjects with a simple and cheap optical set-up.
  • The module fits onto standard cameras and requires a single image capture, as opposed to techniques that average hundreds of images. This enables objects to be tracked in time and space.
  • Sensitivity > 10 MDa (virus, ribosome, antibody…). Measures cell size, mass, density and growth.
  • Label-free (versus fluorescence that can disturb cells), no preparation (faster process).

Market

  • Biology: live cell imaging, detection of vesicles, viruses, characterization and quality control of LNP
  • Chemistry: characterization of nanoparticles, monitoring of chemical or electrochemical reactions
  • Industry: material quality control and temperature mapping with micrometric spatial accuracy

Development status

  • PoC demonstrating detection at 40 nm (polystyrenes in water on model objects)
